The

Birds of paradise              

sing at brief intervals,

yet, as time would destine

this to be, vanish into the depths of massy

green, into the depths of some dark ocean.

Sometimes a lonely

bird whistles…

This work in progress explores stories about hope, gathered for the telling in a 60min contemporary dance theatre performance. 

Music: Quartet for the End of Time (Quatuor pour la fin du Temps) composed in 1941 by Olivier Messiaen, while interned in the prisoner-of-war camp, Stalag VIIIA, Silesia.  Read the background story to the creation of this remarkable music in Eric Friesen’s article A Tangle of Rainbows, The Quartet for the End of Time, here.
